The Ports prevailed over Visalia for the second straight day to run their record to a league-best 20-13 on Wednesday. With two outs, two on and his team down by a run in the top of the 8th, catcher Collin Theroux stepped to the plate and cranked a three-run homer to right-center to provide the Ports with the margin of victory. Second baseman Nate Mondou singled, doubled and scored twice, and designated hitter Jonah Heim collected 3 hits to raise his average to .336 and extend his hitting steak to 16 games. RHP Matt Milburn turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs and striking out 5 over 6 innings of work, while RHP Boomer Biegalski tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to earn his 2nd win, and RHP Angel Duno got the final four outs for the Ports to secure his 2nd save for Stockton.

The Sounds lost their third straight to fall two games under .500 on Wednesday. RHP Frankie Montas turned in his second straight strong start, allowing 2 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out a season-best 10 batters over 6 innings of work, and he left the game with a three-run lead. But aided by errors by right fielder Anthony Garcia and first baseman Slade Heathcott, RHP Raul Alcantara was charged with 4 runs, 3 earned, in the 7th inning to suffer the loss for the Sounds. Garcia hit a two-run homer, while left fielder Nick Martini slugged a solo shot. Designated hitter Josh Phegley drew 4 walks, and third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, doubled and drove in a run for Nashville in the loss. And with Oakland RHP Trevor Cahill landing on the disabled list, Sounds center fielder Dustin Fowler was recalled by the A’s on Wednesday.

After winning three straight one-run games, the Snappers suffered a one-run defeat to snap their streak on Wednesday. Starter Bryce Conley gave up 3 runs in 3 innings of work, while LHP Jared Poche allowed 3 more runs to score in 5 frames of relief to take the loss. 21-year-old Nicaraguan second baseman Jesus Lopez slugged a pair of homers, both solo shots, while right fielder Jack Meggs singled and belted a two-run blast. Catcher Jordan Devencenzi doubled, tripled and walked, and first baseman Hunter Hargrove drew a pair of walks and singled in a run for the Snappers.
