The Ports prevailed in the first game of their seven-game road trip on Tuesday to take back sole possession of first place in the California League North Division. Catcher Jonah Heim had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including his 3rd home run and a pair of doubles to give him a team-leading total of 9 on the season, while also driving in 4 runs for Stockton. Heim, who was acquired from Tampa Bay in the offseason, extended his league-best hitting streak to 15 games, and the 22-year-old now boasts a team-best batting average of .324. Right fielder Luis Barrera doubled twice and scored twice, while shortstop Kevin Merrell singled twice, drove in a run and stole a base, and second baseman Nate Mondou drew a pair of walks and doubled in a run for the Ports. RHP Brian Howard turned in another strong start, allowing 2 runs while striking out 6 over 6 innings of work to earn his 3rd win for Stockton.

The Sounds lost their second straight at home on Tuesday to drop a game below .500. Starter James Naile surrendered 7 runs over 5 frames to suffer his 3rd loss for the Sounds. Center fielder Dustin Fowler doubled and drilled a two-run homer, while left fielder B.J. Boyd tripled, and right fielder Anthony Garcia notched a pair of doubles for Nashville in the loss.

The RockHounds were shut out on just four hits to snap their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. RHP Norge Ruiz delivered a solid start, allowing 2 runs of over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with his 3rd loss on the season. Catcher Santiago Chavez, designated hitter Brett Vertigan and Richie Martin, making his first career start at second base, all doubled for Midland in the loss.

The Snappers tallied their third straight one-run victory on Tuesday. RHP Xavier Altamirano turned in an outstanding start, allowing just 1 unearned run while striking out 8 over 6 innings of work to earn the win for the Snappers. RHP Seth Martinez tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and LHP Josh Reagan surrendered a solo shot in the 9th but hung on to post his 4th save. 18-year-old Cuban left fielder Lazaro Armenteros launched his 1st home run for the Snappers, a 402-foot shot to straightaway center field in the bottom of the 3rd inning to give Beloit the lead. Shortstop Nick Allen and designated hitter Logan Farrar both doubled, and center fielder Austin Beck singled, walked and scored a run for the Snappers.
