An eight-run 1st inning helped the Sounds snap their three-game losing streak on Thursday. Right fielder Anthony Garcia singled in a pair of runs in the 1st, hit a two-run homer in the 4th and drove in another run with a sacrifice fly in the 8th. Garcia homered for the second straight night and now leads Nashville with 6 round-trippers. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while second baseman Franklin Barreto drew a pair of walks and doubled in a run, and left fielder Nick Martini singled, doubled, walked and drove in a pair for the Sounds. Starter Daniel Gossett allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, over 7 innings of work to notch his 3rd win for Nashville.

RHP Kyle Friedrichs endured his second straight rough start for the RockHounds, surrendering 6 runs in just 2 2/3 innings to raise his ERA to 8.33 as he suffered his 2nd loss for Midland. And the RockHounds could never catch up, scoring just two runs on six hits on Thursday. First baseman Seth Brown, singled, was hit by a pitch, and walked with the bases loaded to bring home a run, while second baseman Eli White and designated hitter Brett Vertigan each singled, drew a pair of walks and scored a run in the loss.

Stockton lost in a walk-off on Thursday to fall back into a tie with San Jose for first place in the California League North Division. Catcher Jonah Heim doubled with the bases loaded to drive in three runs in the 3rd inning and extend his league-best hitting streak to 17 games. Stockton starter Zack Erwin allowed 3 runs and exited after 6 innings of work. Third baseman Melvin Mercedes doubled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 7th for the Ports. RHP Sam Sheehan then tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to hold Visalia in check, but RHP Miguel Romero gave up 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to suffer his 2nd loss for Stockton.

The Snappers lost their second straight one-run game on Thursday. 2016’s 10th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Mitchell Jordan, was solid in his first start of the season, allowing just 1 run over 6 innings of work, but LHP Ivan Andueza gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, over 3 innings of relief to take the loss for the Snappers. Right fielder Jack Meggs homered and doubled, while first baseman Hunter Hargrove had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run. Center fielder Austin Beck singled twice and walked, and left fielder Lazaro Armenteros drew a pair of walks for Beloit in the loss.
