Saturday, September 5th: Ben Hansen & Cameron Leary Help Hounds Win while Phipps Pitches Ports to Victory

Starting pitcher Ben Hansen and right fielder Cameron Leary helped the RockHounds record a big win over the Missions on Saturday. Hansen, who was acquired from the Red Sox in exchange for third baseman Brett Harris, turned in a strong start, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks while notching 4 strikeouts through 5 frames to earn his 3^rd win for Midland. The 6-foot-6 righty threw 78 pitches, 49 of them for strikes, and he’s now allowed just 2 runs in 21 1/3 innings over his last 4 appearances for the Hounds. Meanwhile, Leary, who was the A’s 10^th-round pick in 2024, went 3 for 3 with a triple, walked twice, scored twice and drove in 4 runs. Leary also swiped a pair of bases, giving him 44 stolen bases on the season, the second-most in the Texas League and the most among A’s minor leaguers. Center fielder Nate Nankil homered, walked, was hit by a pitch and scored twice, while left fielder Clark Elliott went 3 for 6 with a double, and shortstop Ali Camarillo singled, doubled, walked and scored twice for the RockHounds.
