Right fielder Trenton Brooks, left fielder Cody Thomas and third baseman Jonah Bride helped power Las Vegas to its fifth straight win on Wednesday. Brooks, who was signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, continued his hot hitting of late, reaching base in all 5 of his plate appearances. The 27-year-old homered, tripled, doubled twice, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs. He’s now 11 for his last 16 with 8 extra-base hits over his last 5 games and leads the team with a .349 batting average and a 1.233 OPS. Thomas, who’s also been on a bit of a tear lately, collected 4 hits, including a triple, and drove in a pair. Bride singled, homered and drove in 3 runs, while second baseman Zack Gelof doubled twice, scored twice and stole a base. Shortstop Nick Allen had a pair of hits and stole a base, and first baseman Kevin Cron singled twice and drove in a pair. RHP Luis Medina returned from the temporarily inactive list to make the start and allowed 4 runs, on 3 hits and 5 walks while striking out 4 over 3 frames. RHP Joe Wieland tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, striking out 4, to pick up the victory for Las Vegas. As expected, RHP Mason Miller and infielder Jordan Diaz were both added to the A’s roster on Wednesday, while catcher Yohel Pozo was activated from the Aviators injured list, and A’s RHP Domingo Acevedo was sent to Las Vegas on a rehab assignment.
