In just the last 24 hours, the opening day rosters for three of the A’s affiliates, the Double-A Midland RockHounds, the High-A Lansing Lugnuts and the Class-A Stockton Ports, were released. The Triple-A Las Vegas Aviators opening day roster was announced last week.
Midland’s lineup is highlighted by a pair of exciting young outfielders, Lawrence Butler and Denzel Clarke, to go along with talented infielders Brett Harris, Darell Hernaiz and Logan Davidson, while the team’s starting rotation features promising young RHPs Mason Miller, J.T. Ginn, Ryan Cusick, Joey Estes, Royber Salinas and Jake Walkinshaw.
The Lugnuts’ lineup is highlighted by a pair of former 1st-round picks, catcher Daniel Susac and shortstop Max Muncy, while Lansing’s pitching staff includes last year’s 4th and 5th-round picks, RHPs Jacob Watters and Jack Perkins. The team’s outfield features familiar names like Lazaro Armenteros and Junior Perez, who arrives after an impressive season in Stockton.
Infielder Robert Puason and outfielder Brayan Buelvas will be making their returns to the Stockton roster this season, while outfielders Clark Elliott and Colby Thomas, who were two of the A’s top picks in last year’s draft, will be making their full-season debuts with the Ports. Stockton’s pitching staff will feature a number of promising young Latin American arms like LHP James Gonzalez and RHPs Yehizon Sanchez, Dheygler Gimenez, Carlos Guarate and Pedro Santos to go along with a crop of hurlers from last year’s draft including RHPs Micah Dallas (8th round), T.J. Czyz (12th round) and Jake Pfennigs (13th round).
