The Aviators put 14 runs on the board to post their third straight victory over the River Cats on Tuesday, and first baseman Carlos Perez led the way. The 30-year-old Venezuelan collected 5 hits, including a home run and a double while driving in 4 runs, and he’s now 10 for 19 with 4 walks, 4 extra-base hits and 11 RBIs through 5 games in July. Second baseman Vimael Machin homered, singled twice, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, while center fielder Austin Beck homered in his third straight game for Las Vegas. Right fielder Luis Barrera walked, singled twice and scored twice, and designated hitter Cody Thomas doubled twice and drove in a pair for the Aviators. Starter Paul Blackburn allowed 2 runs and struck out 7 over 5 frames to earn the win, while LHP A.J. Puk tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief for Las Vegas.
