Center fielder Franklin Barreto had a big day at the plate on Tuesday to help Las Vegas win its second straight over Reno and achieve a split of their four-game series. Barreto collected 4 extra-base hits in the game, drilling 3 doubles and a triple while driving in a pair of runs for the Aviators. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse tripled, doubled and drove in 3 runs, including the winning run in the top of the 7th inning, while second baseman Corban Joseph had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 3. Catcher Beau Taylor drew a pair of walks and doubled in a run, while right fielder Mark Payton had a pair of hits, including a double, drove in a run and stole a base, and shortstop Jorge Mateo doubled, drew a walk and tallied his team-leading 13th stolen base for Las Vegas. Starter Paul Blackburn was charged with 6 runs over 5 1/3 frames, and RHP J.B. Wendelken picked up the win despite giving up 2 runs in 1 2/3 innings of relief for Las Vegas. Meanwhile, the A’s activated outfielder Nick Martini from the injured list and optioned him to the Aviators on Tuesday.

The RockHounds snapped their six-game losing streak on Tuesday. Catcher Jonah Heim doubled in the 2nd inning then tagged a tie-breaking, two-run homer in the bottom of the 8th for the Hounds. Shortstop Kevin Merrell singled and homered, while first baseman Mikey White drew a walk and doubled in a run for the RockHounds. Starter Daulton Jefferies threw 3 scoreless frames, while his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Grant Holmes, gave up 2 runs in 3 innings of work. RHP John Gorman picked up the win despite giving up a home run and then putting the tying and winning runs on base in the top of the 9th, and RHP Trey Cochran-Gill got the final out in the 9th to record his 2nd save for the RockHounds.

Stockton suffered its third loss in its last four games on Tuesday. Starter Rafael Kelly allowed 2 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while rehabbing RHP Jharel Cotton struck out 3 while tossing 2 hitless and scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Nick Highberger gave up 2 runs in the top of the 8th to take the loss. First baseman Alfonso Rivas singled and homered, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman collected 3 hits, including a double, and scored twice for Stockton.
