Prospect Of The Game:

On a day in which there wasn’t much to cheer about in the A’s minor league system, the RockHounds were the only A’s affiliate in action to fall by less than an eight-run margin, and RHP Daulton Jefferies turned in the best performance of the day. The 23-year-old, who’s making his way back from Tommy John surgery, allowed just 1 hit while throwing 3 scoreless innings in his second start for the RockHounds. Jefferies posted a 2.40 ERA in 5 appearances for the Ports before his promotion to Midland, and he’s now notched a total of 24 strikeouts in 21 innings of work so far this season. His new tandem-pitching partner, RHP Logan Verrett, gave up 2 runs over 5 frames, and LHP Zack Erwin surrendered the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 9th to suffer his 2nd loss as Midland fell in a walk-off on Monday. Designated hitter Nate Mondou singled and tripled, while right fielder Chase Calabuig collected 3 hits, and catcher Jonah Heim singled in a run for the RockHounds.
