On Tuesday, Ports pitcher Matt Milburn threw the first complete-game shutout for Stockton since 2007 and the first in the California League this season. 2016’s 29th-round draft pick for the A’s allowed just 5 hits while walking none and striking out 7 over 9 scoreless innings to pick up his 5th win for the Ports. And the 24-year-old has now notched 64 strikeouts while walking just 9 over 69 2/3 innings for Stockton this season. Meanwhile, first baseman Sandber Pimentel had a big night at the plate for the Ports, slugging a pair of home runs and driving in 5 runs, while center fielder Luis Barrera singled, walked twice and scored twice for Stockton.

Shortstop Jorge Mateo helped the Sounds snap their three-game losing streak on Tuesday. With one out, a man on and the game tied in the top of the 9th, Mateo tripled to drive in the winning run for the Sounds. The 23-year-old had 3 hits on the night and drove in a pair of runs for Nashville. Second baseman Melvin Mercedes singled, tripled, walked and drove in a run, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse had 2 hits, including a double, and left fielder Nick Martini tripled in a run for the Sounds. 24-year-old Cuban RHP Norge Ruiz allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, in 6 innings of work in his Triple-A debut, while LHP Dean Kiekhefer tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Bobby Wahl got the final two outs in the bottom of the 9th to notch his 8th save for Nashville. In other news, Sounds outfielder BJ Boyd landed on the disabled list with a groin strain on Tuesday.

Catcher Skyler Weber, second baseman Trace Loehr and designated hitter Logan Farrar all singled, while first baseman Jack Meggs doubled for Beloit’s only extra-base hit. Starter Bryce Conley surrendered 4 runs in just 3 frames to suffer his 3rd loss for the Snappers.

The Lake Monsters snapped their five-game losing streak on Tuesday. 18-year-old Dominican second baseman Marcos Brito had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while this year’s 4th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Alfonso Rivas, singled twice and walked twice, and this year’s 12th-round pick, right fielder Noah Vaughan, doubled in a pair of runs for Vermont. This year’s 9th-round pick, RHP Chase Cohen, tossed 2 scoreless innings in his first start for the Lake Monsters, while 5th-round RHP Brady Feigl tossed 2 scoreless innings of his own to pick up the victory for Vermont. Stockton outfielder Greg Deichmann singled twice and drove in a run in his fifth rehab game with the A’s, while this year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, 17-year-old left fielder Lawrence Butler, singled and walked twice, and this year’s 34th-round pick, second baseman Nick Ward, singled in a pair of runs for the A’s. 19-year-old Dominican RHP Ismael Aquino made the start and allowed 1 unearned run in 1 inning of work, while 21-year-old Venezuelan RHP Jesus Monserratt, this year’s 22nd-round pick, RHP Aiden McIntyre, and last year’s 23rd-round pick, RHP Malik Jones, each tossed 2 scoreless innins in relief, with Monserratt notching the win for the A’s. Tuesday’s Texas League All-Star Game was tied 2-2 after 9 innings, so it was settled with a sudden-death, home-run-hitting contest to decide the winner. Astros prospect Taylor Jones prevailed in the contest to hand the victory to the South Division All-Stars.
