Starter Travis Banwart had a strong outing for the River Cats, allowing just 1 run and striking out 6 over 5 2/3 innings to tally his 10th win on Tuesday, while RHP Brian Gordon got the final 3 outs to earn his 21st save, which set the single-season save mark for Sacramento. Designated hitter Hiro Nakajima doubled in a run, while outfielder Michael Choice singled in a run and walked twice, and second baseman Jemile Weeks doubled and scored a run for the River Cats.

Second baseman Antonio Lamas had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs, while catcher Bruce Maxwell singled and homered, and outfielder Myrio Richard collected a pair of doubles for the Ports.

Shortstop Luis Baez drove in 2 of Vermont’s 3 runs in the game, while catcher Josh Miller doubled and scored twice, and second baseman Melvin Mercedes had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters.

Preliminary rosters were released Tuesday for the Arizona Fall League, the six-week circuit featuring many of baseball’s top prospects that transpires every year from early-October through mid-November. From the A’s, three position players and four pitchers will be taking part – shortstop Addison Russell, first baseman Max Muncy and catcher David Freitas, along with LHPs Jeff Urlaub and Omar Duran and RHPs Ryan Dull and Seth Frankoff. Contributing A’s Farm blogger Frankoff is also this year’s recipient of the Dallas Braden Community Service Award from the Stockton Ports.
