RHP Samuel Dutton turned in a strong start to lead Lansing to its third straight win over Peoria on Thursday. The 23-year-old righty, who was the A’s 10th-round draft pick last year, allowed 2 runs on just 4 hits and 1 walk while striking out 4 through 6 innings of work to earn the win. Dutton threw 84 pitches, 59 of them for strikes. Over 4 starts in the month of August, Dutton has compiled an ERA of 3.28 while issuing just 4 walks over 24 2/3 frames, and he now leads all A’s minor leaguers in innings pitched this season with 114 1/3. RHP Darlin Pinales tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Gerlin Rosario pitched a perfect 9th to close out the victory for the Lugnuts. Center fielder Pedro Pineda singled and slugged a two-run homer, while second baseman Jared Davis had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 5 runs, and catcher Dylan Fien doubled, singled twice, scored twice and drove in a run for the Lugnuts.
