Thursday, August 13th: Luke Mann’s 2 HRs Help Hounds Win while Drew Burress Doubles Twice for Ports

Third baseman Luke Mann pounded a pair of home runs to help the RockHounds record their second straight win over the Sod Poodles on Thursday. The 26-year-old infielder slugged a solo shot in the 5^th inning to put the Hounds on the board and then, with the game tied in the 8^th, he hit a three-run homer to provide the margin of victory for Midland. Mann has now gone 7 for 11 with 4 home runs in his last 3 games for the RockHounds. Left fielder Clark Elliott slugged a solo shot of his own in the 8^th, while second baseman Casey Yamauchi and center fielder Cameron Leary each singled, doubled and stole a base, and designated hitter Leo De Vries doubled in the tying run in the 8^th for the RockHounds. RHP Steven Echavarria allowed 5 runs through 5 2/3 frames in his first start for Midland, while RHP Jay Dill threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Blaze Pontes got the final three outs to secure the save for the Hounds.
