RHP Steven Echavarria helped lead Lansing to a one-run victory over West Michigan on Tuesday. Lugnuts pitchers held the Whitecaps to just 1 run on 6 hits in the win. The 20-year-old Echavarria made the start and allowed 1 run on 4 hits and 3 walks while notching 4 strikeouts to turn in one of his best starts of the season. RHP Jose Dicochea tossed 2 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, while LHP Jack Mahoney threw a scoreless frame in the top of the 9th to pick up the win. Left fielder Pedro Pineda singled twice, walked twice and scored a run, while third baseman Gunner Gouldsmith picked up a pair of hits, and center fielder Rodney Green drew a leadoff walk in the bottom of the 9th and eventually came around to score the winning run on a fielder’s choice by shortstop Ali Camarillo as the Lugnuts won in a walk-off.
