LHP Jackson Phipps turned in an excellent start to pitch the Ports to their fourth-straight win on Wednesday. Last year’s 16th-round pick for the A’s threw 6 scoreless innings, allowing just 4 hits with no walks and a pair of strikeouts to earn the victory for Stockton. Phipps threw just 76 pitches, 49 of them for strikes. The 24-year-old southpaw had previously won California Pitcher of the Week honors for the Ports back in April and has posted a 3.20 ERA through 4 starts for Stockton in May. RHP Bjay Cooke gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of work, while LHP Brayan Restituyo and RHP Kade Brown each tossed a scoreless inning in relief, with Brown securing the save for Stockton. Designated hitter Shotaro Morii singled in a run and stole a base, and left fielder Breyson Guedez picked up a pair of hits and scored a run for the Ports.
