Wednesday, September 10th: Aaron Brooks & Ryan Lasko Lead Vegas to Victory while Midland Suffers Shutout Loss

RHP Aaron Brooks and right fielder Ryan Lasko helped lead Las Vegas to a shutout victory over Reno in a rain-dampened game on Wednesday. Brooks, the 35-year-old veteran righty whom the A’s signed in June, made the start and allowed just 5 hits without issuing a walk while tossing 6 shutout innings to earn the victory for Las Vegas. He threw just 68 pitches, 47 for strikes. RHP Carlos Duran threw a scoreless frame in the 7th, while RHP Gustavo Rodriguez tossed 2 scoreless innings to complete the eight-hit shutout and secure his 5th save for the Aviators. Right fielder Ryan Lasko, who was just promoted to Las Vegas last week, singled and slugged a solo shot in the 5th inning, while shortstop Drew Swift singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, and first baseman Luke Mann tripled, walked and scored a run for the Aviators. In other news, Las Vegas catcher Daniel Susac was placed on the injured list and catcher/infielder Ben Newton replaced him on the roster on Wednesday.

Midland suffered a three-hit shutout loss to Amarillo on Wednesday. RHP Braden Nett made the start and allowed 2 runs through 4 1/3 frames to take the loss. Designated hitter Clark Elliott went 2 for 4 with a double, while first baseman T.J. Schofield-Sam singled to provide all of Midland’s offense in the loss.
