RHP Matt Milburn turned in his third straight quality start to help the RockHounds record their second straight win over the Naturals on Wednesday. Milburn allowed just 2 runs over 7 innings of work to earn his 8th win, tying him for the league lead, and the 26-year-old has now given up just 5 earned runs in 24 frames over his last 4 starts for the Hounds. RHP James Naile tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, and RHP Jesus Zambrano got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his 6th save for Midland. Right fielder Taylor Motter homered and singled in a run, while second baseman Nate Mondou had a pair of hits and drove in a run for the Hounds. In other news, RockHounds RHP Brian Howard was named a Texas League Postseason All-Star on Wednesday. His 3.02 ERA is currently the best in the Texas League and his 8 wins are tied for most in the league.

Las Vegas notched a one-run win over Albuquerque on Wednesday. RHP Daniel Mengden returned from the injured list to make the start and gave up 1 run over 3 2/3 innings of work and left with the game a 1-1 tie. RHP Tanner Anderson replaced Mengden on the mound and was solid in a long-relief role, allowing just 1 run over 4 frames to earn his 9th win for the Aviators. RHP Miguel Romero tossed 1 scoreless inning in relief, while LHP Kyle Lobstein notched the final out in the 9th to secure his 2nd save for Las Vegas. Left fielder Mark Payton singled twice and drew a walk, while center fielder Dustin Fowler had a pair of hits and drove in what would prove to be the winning run for the Aviators. Meanwhile, outfielder Nick Martini was claimed off waivers by San Diego on Wednesday and, with Oakland outfielder Khris Davis going on the paternity list, Las Vegas infielder Sheldon Neuse is set to join the A’s on Thursday.

Stockton suffered its seventh straight loss on Wednesday. Starter Xavier Altamirano surrendered 6 runs, 5 earned, in just 2 innings of work to take the loss. Third baseman Jonah Bride had a pair of hits and drove in a run, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman singled and walked twice, and right fielder Yhoelnys Gonzalez went 0 for 2 in his return from the injured list on Wednesday.

Starter Joe DeMers gave up 3 runs in just 1 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Bryce Nightengale allowed 3 runs in 3 innings of relief to take the loss. Designated hitter Nick Osborne tripled, doubled twice and drove in a run, while second baseman Joseph Pena notched 3 hits for the Snappers in the loss.

Preliminary rosters for the Arizona Fall League were released on Wednesday. Shortstop Nick Allen, outfielder Greg Deichmann, first baseman Alfonso Rivas, RHP Jesus Zambrano and LHP Jhenderson Hurtado are set to represent the A’s on the Mesa Solar Sox this year, with two more A’s pitching prospects being added to the squad in the coming days.
