Shortstop Leo De Vries and RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang helped the RockHounds record their fourth win in their last five games to run their record to 7-2 on Sunday. The 19-year-old De Vries collected 3 hits, including a pair of solo homers, one to deep center field in the top of the 1st inning to give Midland an early lead and another to right field in the 9th inning to provide the final run for the RockHounds. The A’s top prospect is now 12 for 36 with a slash line of .333/.429/.528 on the young season. Catcher Shane McGuire homered, doubled and drove in a pair, while second baseman Colby Halter singled twice, was hit by a pitch, swiped a pair of bases and scored a run, and designated hitter Tommy White had 3 hits for the Hounds. RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang, who recently returned to the RockHounds after making a pair of shaky starts for Las Vegas, allowed 1 run on just 1 hit and 1 walk while striking out 5 through 5 2/3 frames to earn the win, while RHP Kenya Huggins threw 3 scoreless frames in relief to secure the save for Midland.

Despite notching 11 hits, the Lugnuts went down to defeat on Sunday. Starter Tzu-Chen Sha gave up 3 runs through 4 frames, while RHP Darlin Pinales allowed 1 run in 2/3 of an inning of relief to take the loss. Third baseman Davis Diaz singled, doubled, walked twice and scored twice, while right fielder Devin Taylor singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a run, and left fielder C.J. Pittaro collected 3 hits and scored a run in the loss.

Shortstop Bryan Andrade tripled and scored a run, while center fielder Bobby Blandford singled in Stockton’s sole run in the loss.
