LHP Hogan Harris returned from the IL to make the start for Lansing on Sunday and threw 37 pitches, facing 9 batters and allowing 1 unearned run on 2 walks and a hit in 1 2/3 innings of work before exiting in favor of RHP Stevie Emanuels. The 23-year-old, who was the A’s 5th-round draft pick in 2020, threw 4 1/3 scoreless innings, allowing just 2 hits while walking 2 and striking out 6. Emanuels has now notched 46 strikeouts in 34 2/3 frames, which is the third-most strikeouts among A’s minor leaguers, and his 11.9 K/9 is the best rate in the system among hurlers who’ve thrown at least 30 innings. RHP Joe DeMers gave up 3 runs in the 7th inning to take the loss, and RHP Daniel Martinez surrendered another 4 runs in the 8th. Second baseman Drew Swift singled, walked and stole a base, while first baseman Tyler Soderstrom and designated hitter Brayan Buelvas both doubled in the loss.
