The Aviators battled back to best the Aces and claim victory on opening night in Las Vegas on Tuesday. Left fielder Luis Barrera led the way, collecting 3 hits, swiping a base and scoring twice in his team’s one run victory. Barrera came through big for the Aviators when he doubled and came around to score the winning run with two outs in the bottom of the 8th inning. Second baseman Nate Mondou singled him home to notch the game-winning RBI for Las Vegas. Third baseman Vimael Machin singled and walked twice, while shortstop Nick Allen drew a walk, singled in a run and stole a base, and right fielder and leadoff hitter Mickey McDonald singled, doubled and scored a run for the Aviators. Starting pitcher Zach Logue allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 4 in just 2 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Austin Pruitt pitched 1 2/3 perfect innings in relief to pick up the win, and RHP Ryan Castellani tossed a scoreless 9th to secure the save for Las Vegas.
