Las Vegas outlasted Albuquerque on Friday to return its record to an even .500. RHP Brian Howard turned in a strong start, striking out 5 while throwing 5 shutout frames to earn the victory for the Aviators. RHP Domingo Acevedo threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to secure his team-leading 3rd save for Las Vegas. Left fielder Cody Thomas had a big game, collecting a home run, a double and a single, while right fielder Greg Deichmann tagged a two-run homer, and second baseman Vimael Machin and designated hitter Jacob Wilson both tripled for Las Vegas.

Five RockHounds pitchers combined to shut out the Hooks on just four hits and secure their seventh straight win on Friday. Starter Chase Cohen led the way by striking out 6 over 3 1/3 shutout innings, and Cohen has now thrown 16 1/3 scoreless frames over his last 5 appearances for Midland. RHPs Norge Ruiz and Zach Jackson each threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, while RHP Zack Erwin tossed 2 shutout frames to earn the win, and LHP Aaron Brown notched the final out in the 9th to complete the shutout and secure the save. Right fielder Devin Foyle tripled, walked and scored both the RockHounds’ runs, while center fielder Mickey McDonald singled twice, drove in a run and stole a base, and third baseman Logan Davidson doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds.

Lansing’s lineup pushed a season-high 17 runs across the plate to help the Lugnuts crush the Cubs on Friday. Second baseman Elvis Peralta had a big night at the plate, collecting 4 hits, including a two-run double, while also scoring 4 runs. First baseman Will Simoneit slugged a three-run homer, while shortstop Max Schuemann singled, walked twice, scored 3 times and drove in 3 runs. Third baseman Cobie Vance singled twice, walked and scored a run, and right fielder Jake Suddleson doubled and drove in 4 runs for the Lugnuts. Starter Reid Birlingmair surrendered 3 runs in just 2 2/3 innings of work, while RHP Brandon Withers tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. Meanwhile, Lugnuts outfielder Austin Beck landed on the injured list, while third baseman Jordan Diaz returned from the temporarily inactive list for Lansing.

Stockton suffered a one-run loss to see its four-game winning streak snapped on Friday. 2019’s 24th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Trayson Kubo, made his first start for Stockton and was charged with 4 runs, 3 earned, in 2 1/3 innings of work to take the loss, while tandem starter Jake Walkinshaw allowed 1 unearned run over 5 frames for the Ports. 18-year-old shortstop Robert Puason went 3 for 3 to raise his average to .240 but also made a pair of errors in the field, while center fielder Junior Perez singled, walked and scored a run, and left fielder Lawrence Butler doubled in a run in the loss.
