Four home runs, including three in the 5th inning, helped Las Vegas secure its third straight victory over Sacramento on Monday. First baseman Francisco Pena, designated hitter Frank Schwindel and left fielder Cody Thomas all slugged solo shots for the Aviators in the 5th. Pena also doubled, singled and scored twice in the game, while Schwindel drew a pair of walks and scored twice, and Thomas also singled and scored twice for Las Vegas. Shortstop Edwin Diaz singled, walked and socked a solo shot of his own in the 9th, while center fielder Luis Barrera collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in 3 for the Aviators. Starting pitcher Grant Holmes was charged with 6 runs over 4 frames, while RHP Argenis Angulo tossed a scoreless 7th to pick up the victory for Las Vegas.

 

In Other News…

Outfielder Lazaro Armenteros, who was slashing .431/.471/.615 in 15 games for Stockton, and RHP Brock Whittlesey, who tossed 10 1/3 scoreless innings in relief for the Ports, were both promoted to High-A Lansing on Monday. Meanwhile, Lugnuts third baseman Jordan Diaz was placed on the temporarily inactive list while he competes with the Colombian Olympic team, and RHP Charlie Cerny landed on the injured list for Lansing.
