On a day when there wasn’t much winning in the A’s minor league system, Las Vegas designated hitter Cameron Rupp turned in the most impressive performance of the day. Rupp returned from the injured list on Monday to pound out a pair of home runs for the Aviators. The 30-year-old slugged a solo shot in the 4th inning and then tagged a two-run homer to tie the game in the 6th inning. Left fielder Mark Payton singled and belted a three-run blast, while second baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, doubled, drew a walk and scored a run. Catcher Dustin Garneau singled, tripled and drove in a run, and first baseman Alfonso Rivas went 1 for 4 in his Triple-A debut. Starter Paul Blackburn allowed 6 runs over 4 2/3 frames. And Las Vegas was holding a one-run lead in the top of the 9th, but RHP J.B. Wendelken surrendered 2 runs in the bottom of the 9th to take the loss as Albuquerque won in a walk-off to snap the Aviators’ nine-game winning streak. And with outfielder Stephen Piscotty landing on the injured list for Oakland, first baseman/outfielder Seth Brown was promoted to the A’s. Las Vegas outfielder Nick Martini was designated for assignment to make room for Brown on the A’s 40-man roster, while Rupp returned from the Aviators injured list, and Rivas was promoted from the Ports to take Brown’s spot on the Las Vegas roster on Monday.
