Beloit put double digits on the board on Monday to best Quad Cities for the third straight time. Last year’s 28th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Reid Birlingmair, turned in his second straight outstanding start, throwing 6 shutout innings to earn his 4th win, and the 22-year-old has now allowed just 1 run in 13 innings over his last 2 starts for the Snappers. Last year’s 11th-round draft pick, RHP Joe DeMers, picked up his 2nd save despite giving up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 3 innings of relief. Catcher Skyler Weber hit a two-run homer and doubled in 2 runs, while first baseman Payton Squier singled, tripled, drew a walk and drove in a pair. Shortstop Max Schuemann singled twice, scored twice, walked and tallied his team-leading 11th stolen base, and second baseman Joseph Pena singled, walked twice and scored 3 runs for the Snappers. Meanwhile, Beloit outfielder Logan Farrar was released and shortstop Marcos Brito was activated from the injured list on Monday.

Midland fell for the fourth time in its last five games on Monday. Hounds starter Grant Holmes gave up 3 runs, on 3 solo home runs, and struck out 5 over 5 frames to suffer the loss, while RHP Wandisson Charles allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in 1 inning of relief in his Double-A debut. Shortstop Edwin Diaz singled, tripled and drove in a run, while third baseman Dan Gamache singled, doubled and drove in a run for the RockHounds in the loss.
