Las Vegas claimed victory over El Paso in the first game of their three-game series on Tuesday. Designated hitter Seth Brown slugged a solo shot in the 2nd inning, and then belted a two-run blast in the bottom of the 3rd inning to bring home the tying and go-ahead runs and give Las Vegas a lead it would never surrender. Brown also singled and walked in the game, and he now leads the team with a total of 50 extra-base hits. First baseman Eric Campbell singled in a run and drew a pair of walks, while right fielder Dustin Fowler singled twice, scored twice and stole a base, and shortstop Jorge Mateo and left fielder Mark Payton each singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Aviators. Starter Jake Buchanan allowed 4 runs, 2 earned, over 4 frames, while LHP A.J. Puk tossed 2 scoreless innings to earn the win in his Triple-A debut. Rehabbing RHP Jharel Cotton gave up 2 runs in 1 inning of relief, and RHP J.B. Wendelken tossed a scoreless 9th to secure the save for the Aviators. Meanwhile, the A’s recalled RHP Tanner Anderson and sent outfielder Nick Martini back to Las Vegas on Tuesday.

After notching a no-hitter on Monday night, Stockton fell for the fourth time in its last five games on Tuesday. Last year’s 26th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Leudeny Pineda, arrived from the Arizona League to make the start for Stockton and allowed 5 runs over 4 frames to suffer the loss in his California League debut. Right fielder Jameson Hannah had a pair of hits, including a double, and drove in a run for the Ports in the loss. Meanwhile, Stockton RHP James Kaprielian was reassigned to the RockHounds on Tuesday.

The Lake Monsters lost their second straight on Tuesday. RHP Michael Murray made the start and allowed 1 run in 3 innings of work, while RHP Clark Cota was charged with 3 unearned runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters. Last year’s 6th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Lawrence Butler, doubled in a run for Vermont in the loss. Meanwhile, LHP Jhenderson Hurtado was reassigned to the Snappers and outfielder Noah Vaughan was added to the Lake Monsters roster on Tuesday.

This year’s 11th-round draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Dustin Harris, collected 3 hits, including a pair of doubles, drew a walk and scored twice, while 19-year-old second baseman Givaine Basilia singled, doubled, drew a walk, drove in 3 runs and stole a base, and designated hitter Sean Murphy singled and drew 3 walks in his seventh rehab game in the Arizona League. This year’s 24th-round draft pick, RHP Trayson Kubo, made the start and was charged with 1 unearned in 2 innings of work, while 21-year-old Dominican LHP Livan Sanchez allowed 1 run in 4 innings of relief to earn the win on Tuesday.

20-year-old Venezuelan left fielder Rafael Rincones had a pair of hits and drove in 4 runs, while this year’s 3rd-round draft pick for the A’s, center fielder Marcus Smith, singled, tripled and scored twice. 19-year-old Cuban RHP Pedro Santos made the start and allowed just 1 unearned run over 3 2/3 innings of work, while converted infielder Jesus Lage threw 1 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win on Tuesday.

    1. As long as he stays healthy, I’m sure we’ll see him in the A’s bullpen this year, maybe in more than a mop-up roll.
