RHP Matt Milburn turned in his best start of the season to help the Hounds win their fifth straight on Saturday. Milburn allowed just 1 unearned run while walking none and striking out 6 over 8 strong innings to earn his 3rd win for the RockHounds. LHP Zack Erwin tossed a scoreless 9th to secure his 2nd save for Midland. Right fielder Greg Deichmann homered, while center fielder Luis Barrera collected his league-leading 8th triple and drove in a run for the RockHounds. And with Las Vegas catcher Beau Taylor joining the A’s on Saturday, Hounds catcher Jonah Heim is set to join the Aviators on Sunday.

With Paul Blackburn joining the A’s on Saturday, LHP Kyle Lobstein made the start for Las Vegas and threw 3 scoreless innings for the Aviators, but RHP Ben Bracewell allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in 2 2/3 innings of relief to take the loss for Las Vegas. First baseman Eric Campbell doubled and homered, while second baseman Jorge Mateo singled and homered for Las Vegas in the loss. With catcher Nick Hundley landing on the IL for Oakland on Saturday, Aviators catcher Beau Taylor was promoted to the A’s, and Hounds catcher Jonah Heim is set to join Las Vegas on Sunday.

Mikey McDonald had a big night at the plate to help the Ports prevail for the eighth time in their last nine games on Saturday. The right fielder tripled, doubled twice and singled, while also drawing a walk, stealing a base and scoring the winning run on a wild pitch with two outs in the bottom of the 10th as the Ports won in a walk-off. Shortstop Jeremy Eierman hit a three-run homer for Stockton. Starter James Kaprielian threw 3 scoreless and hitless innings and struck out 3, while RHP Nick Highberger picked up the win despite allowing 3 runs, 2 earned, in 1 1/3 innings of relief for the Ports. As we mentioned yesterday, LHPs A.J. Puk and Jesus Luzardo both joined Stockton on Friday, and we’ve learned that Puk is set to throw 2 innings on Tuesday and will then be followed by Luzardo who will throw 3.

Shortstop Ryan Gridley slugged a two-run shot, drew a walk and scored twice, while right fielder Anthony Churlin doubled in a pair of runs for the Snappers on Saturday. Starter Bryce Conley allowed 2 runs over 5 frames to earn the win, while 21-year-old Cuban RHP Richard Guasch threw 4 scoreless innings in relief to secure his 1st save for the Snappers.
