Las Vegas was victorious in extra innings on Wednesday to win its third straight and run its record to a league-best 12-2. Designated hitter Seth Brown hit a pair of home runs in the game, including a game-tying blast in the 9th inning, which sent the game to extra innings, and Brown has now belted 5 home runs in his last 3 games for Las Vegas. Shortstop Jorge Mateo had 3 hits and singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled, doubled and drove in a run for the Aviators. Starter Paul Blackburn allowed 3 runs over 4 frames, while LHP Kyle Lobstein allowed 1 unearned run in the bottom of the 10th but still hung on to notch the victory for Vegas. And with RHP Marco Estrada landing on the injured list for Oakland, RHP Chris Bassitt, who was recently assigned to Las Vegas, was recalled by the A’s on Wednesday.

Collin Theroux’s big blast helped the RockHounds sweep their three-game series with the Sod Poodles and record their fourth straight win on Wednesday. Theroux came in to play first base after center fielder Luis Barrera, who’s been dealing with a sore shoulder, left the game after the 5th inning. And in his only at-bat, with two outs in the bottom of the 7th, Theroux belted a tie-breaking home run to provide the margin of victory for Midland. Infielder Edwin Diaz, who started the game at first base before moving across the diamond to third, singled twice, drew a walk and scored a run, while shortstop Kevin Merrell stole a base and doubled in a pair of runs for the RockHounds. Starter Logan Verrett gave up 1 run and struck out 6 over 5 frames, while his tandem-pitching partner, RHP Grant Holmes, allowed just 1 hit and struck out 5 over 3 innings of work to earn the win, and RHP Kyle Finnegan tossed a scoreless 9th to notch his 2nd save for the RockHounds.

RHP Wyatt Marks turned in an outstanding start for Stockton, allowing just 3 hits while walking none and striking out 5 over 6 scoreless innings to earn his 2nd win on Wednesday. Second baseman Trace Loehr singled, homered and drove in 4 runs, while third baseman Jonah Bride belted a two-run blast. Left fielder Lazaro Armenteros singled, walked twice and scored twice, and center fielder Jameson Hannah singled, doubled and drove in a run for Stockton.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

Wednesday’s game was suspended due to rain in the bottom of the 4th inning with Beloit holding a one-run lead. The game will be resumed on a date that’s yet to be determined. Meanwhile, 20-year-old Cuban outfielder Lester Madden landed on the injured list, and outfielder Anthony Churlin was added to the Snappers roster.

  1. Seth Brown is on track to become a 30 HR mlb player, could be the next Muncy. Need to call him up and put him on 40 man roster
