Outfielder Tyler Marincov

Right fielder Tyler Marincov had a big night at the plate, but it wasn’t enough to help his team prevail on Saturday. Marincov collected a home run and a double while also drawing a walk and driving in 3 runs, and he now leads all RockHounds regulars with 12 walks and a .456 on-base percentage. Center fielder Skye Bolt had 2 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run, while second baseman J.P. Sportman doubled, walked and stole a base, and catcher Sean Murphy singled twice and drove in a pair for Midland. RHP Kyle Friedrichs had a rough start for the RockHounds, allowing 8 runs over just 3 1/3 innings to suffer the loss on Saturday.

After throwing 17 2/3 scoreless innings and winning his first three starts this season, Sounds starter James Naile suffered his first loss on Saturday. Naile allowed 5 runs, 3 earned, over 5 frames for Nashville. Catcher Beau Taylor doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored a run, while second baseman Steve Lombardozzi walked and singled in a run for the Sounds. Meanwhile, RHP Josh Lucas was optioned back to Nashville and catcher Josh Phegley was activated from the disabled list and assigned to the Sounds on Saturday.

LHP Zack Erwin had a shaky start on Saturday, surrendering 5 runs over 4 frames to suffer the loss for Stockton. Designated hitter Jonah Heim had a big night at the plate for the Ports, collecting 3 hits, including a home run and a double. Shortstop Kevin Merrell singled, doubled, walked and made a pair of errors in the field, while second baseman Nate Mondou singled and drew a pair of walks. Third baseman Brallan Perez had a pair of hits, and catcher Jason Goldstein went 1 for 4 with a passed ball in his first appearance for the Ports.

Though he had a solid outing, Snappers starter Bryce Conley had his 10-inning hitless and scoreless streak snapped on Saturday. Conley allowed 1 run while striking out 6 over 4 2/3 frames and left the game in the bottom of the 5th inning with Beloit up by three runs, but RHP Heath Bowers surrendered 3 runs in 1 inning of relief, and LHP Josh Reagan gave up 1 run in 1 1/3 frames to suffer the loss for the Snappers. Left fielder Logan Farrar singled, walked, and hit his first home run of the season in the top of the 4th inning to tie the game, while second baseman Trace Loehr tagged a two-run shot in the top of the 5th to give his team the lead, and shortstop Nick Allen singled twice and stole a base for the Snappers in the loss.
