Prospect Of The Game:

Pitcher Wyatt Marks

(5 IP / 7 H / 1 ER / 0 BB / 9 K / Win)

RHP Wyatt Marks turned in a strong start to help the Snappers win their third straight on Friday. Last year’s 13th-round draft pick for the A’s was charged with 3 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out 9 over 5 innings of work to earn his 2nd win. And Marks has now failed to allow a walk while striking out 12 in 10 innings over his first two starts this season. Center fielder Austin Beck collected 3 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while left fielder Logan Farrar singled, tripled and drove in 2. Catcher Jordan Devencenzi had 3 hits and drove in a run, and third baseman Jake Lumley tripled in a pair for the Snappers.

Shortstop Jorge Mateo singled, walked and stole a base for the Sounds. Starter Eric Jokisch allowed 5 runs over 6 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Bobby Wahl struck out 3 in 2 perfect innings of relief, and RHP Josh Lucas contributed a scoreless 9th in the loss.

(5 1/3 IP / 2 H / 2 ER / 1 BB / 10 K)

The Ports got another solid performance from one of their starting pitchers, but it wasn’t enough as Stockton was shut out on just four hits to snap its seven-game winning streak on Friday. RHP Brian Howard, last year’s 8th-round draft pick for the A’s, allowed 2 runs on just 2 hits while striking out 10 over 5 1/3 frames but still ended up suffering the loss for Stockton. Catcher Jonah Heim collected 2 hits, including a double, while first baseman Edwin Diaz singled and drew a pair of walks for the Ports.
