RHP Joel Seddon delivered an impressive outing to lead the RockHounds to a shutout win over Tulsa on Tuesday. Seddon allowed just 3 hits while striking out 5 over 7 shutout innings to earn the win, while LHP Jarret Martin tossed 2 scoreless frames in relief to complete the 4-hit shutout for Midland. Left fielder Tyler Marincov tagged a two-run homer to put the Hounds on the board in the bottom of the 1st. Designated hitter Brett Siddall singled twice and walked, while third baseman Mikey White singled in a run, and catcher Santiago Chavez doubled in a run for the RockHounds.

RHP James Naile turned in his second straight strong start to lead the Sounds to a shutout win in Nashville’s home opener on Tuesday. The victory also served to snap the team’s four-game losing streak. Naile tossed 5 2/3 shutout frames to earn his 2nd win, while RHPs Josh Lucas, Ryan Dull and Bobby Wahl combined to throw 3 1/3 scoreless innings in relief to complete the 7-hit shutout for the Sounds. Center fielder Dustin Fowler singled, doubled, stole a base and drove in a pair of runs, while first baseman Slade Heathcott had 2 hits, including a double, and scored twice. Left fielder B.J. Boyd singled twice, stole a base and drove in a run, and second baseman Steve Lombardozzi walked and doubled in a run for the Sounds.

Ports pitchers delivered another outstanding outing on Tuesday, turning in a 4-hit shutout to help Stockton win its fifth straight. RHP Jake Bray, acquired from the Orioles in the offseason, allowed 4 hits over 4 shutout innings in his first start for Stockton, but RHP Brendan Butler was even more impressive in relief. The 24-year-old threw four hitless and scoreless frames to earn the win, while RHP Miguel Romero pitched a perfect 9th to complete the shutout and secure his 2nd save for Stockton. First baseman Luke Persico singled twice and scored Stockton’s only run on catcher Collin Theroux‘s sacrifice fly in the bottom of the 8th, and Josh Phegley, serving as Stockton’s designated hitter, went 0 for 3 with a pair of strikeouts in his first rehab appearance with the Ports. Stockton’s starting pitchers have now allowed just 1 run while striking out 37 in 29 2/3 innings over Stockton’s first six games this season.

 

MIDWEST LEAGUE  (Class-A)

The Snappers were shut out on just 6 hits on Tuesday. Starter Michael Danielak, last year’s 19th-round draft pick for the A’s, allowed 3 runs over 3 2/3 innings to suffer the loss in his debut for Beloit. RHP Dakota Chalmers came on in relief of Danielak but continued to battle the control issues that plagued him last season. Despite allowing no runs in 2 2/3 innings of relief, the 21-year-old issued a total of 6 walks while striking out 5. Designated hitter Mickey McDonald collected 2 of the Snappers 6 hits in the loss.
