The Snappers exploded for a season-high 18 runs to notch their third win in their last four games on Saturday, and a pair of teenagers spearheaded the attack. Lazaro Armenteros led the way by reaching base 5 times. The 19-year-old Cuban left fielder homered, doubled twice, walked twice, drove in 3 runs and scored 4 times, while 19-year-old center fielder Austin Beck singled twice, slugged a grand slam and drove in a total of 5 runs on the night. Right fielder Mickey McDonald had 3 hits, walked twice and drove in a run, and second baseman Ryan Gridley singled, doubled twice, drew a walk and drove in a pair for Beloit. Starter Mitchell Jordan allowed 2 runs over 5 2/3 frames to earn his 6th win for the Snappers.

After winning 15 in a row, the Sounds dropped their fourth straight on Saturday. LHP Jesus Luzardo allowed 1 run and struck out 6 over 4 2/3 frames in his third start for the Sounds. The 20-year-old threw 72 pitches, 41 for strikes, and left the game with Nashville holding a two-run lead, but RHP Ryan Dull gave up 2 runs in 2/3 of an inning of relief, and RHP Josh Lucas surrendered 3 runs in just 1 inning of work to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. Designated hitter Anthony Garcia singled and slugged his team-leading 20th home run, while first baseman Steve Lombardozzi singled, doubled and scored twice. Second baseman Franklin Barreto had 2 hits and drove in a run, and center fielder Dustin Fowler doubled and drove in a pair for the Sounds. The RockHounds suffered a one-run loss to Arkansas on Saturday. Starter Parker Dunshee allowed 3 runs over 7 1/3 innings to take the loss. RHP John Gorman tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief for the RockHounds. First baseman Seth Brown belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the 1st inning to account for all the Hounds’ scoring in the game. Catcher Jonah Heim collected 2 hits, including a double, in the loss. In other news, it was announced on Saturday that the A’s sent RockHounds RHP Nolan Blackwood to Detroit as a player to be named later in the Mike Fiers trade.

Vermont went down to defeat in the completion of Friday’s suspended game on Saturday. RHP Chase Cohen made the start on Friday and allowed 3 runs over 3 2/3 innings to suffer his 2nd loss for the Lake Monsters, while LHP Chris Kohler threw 4 scoreless frames in relief. Left fielder Joseph Pena doubled, singled twice, scored twice and stole a base, while shortstop Jeremy Eierman had 3 hits and drove in a run for the Lake Monsters in the loss.

The Lake Monsters were shut out on just three hits in Saturday’s second game to suffer their seventh straight loss. RHP Rafael Kelly turned in a solid start, allowing 1 run on just 2 hits over 5 frames, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. Catcher Jose Rivas, third baseman Jonah Bride and second baseman Joseph Pena each singled for the Lake Monsters in the loss.

The AZL A’s shut out the AZL Angels on eight hits on Saturday. RHP Richard Morban turned in another strong start, striking out 6 over 5 1/3 shutout frames, while RHP Leudeny Pineda threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief, and LHP Austin Briggs tossed 2 scoreless innings to complete the shutout and pick up his 3rd save. First baseman Gio Dingcong walked, tripled in a run and stole a base, while designated hitter John Jones drew a walk, doubled in a run and stole a base for the A’s.
