Starter Arnold Leon was a little shaky for Sacramento, allowing 4 runs on 6 hits and throwing 100 pitches over 5+ innings, but he still ended up earning his 5th win, while RHP Evan Scribner struck out the side in the 9th for his 8th save. Outfielder Nick Buss singled and slugged his 2nd home run, while third baseman Alden Carrithers tripled in a pair of runs. Outfielder Shane Peterson collected 3 hits to raise his average to .310, drove in a run in the River Cats’ big 4-run 5th, and made an impressive diving catch in center field to prevent extra bases in the top of the 3rd and help Sacramento win its seventh straight on Tuesday.

Starter Drew Granier turned in a solid outing for the RockHounds but still ended up taking the loss on Tuesday. Two singles and a home run led to 3 runs in the 2nd inning, and a 2-out error by outfielder Billy Burns allowed an unearned run to score in the 6th, but otherwise, Granier was never in any trouble. Hounds hitters managed just 5 hits on the night. Center fielder Burns singled and doubled, while first baseman Max Muncy went 1 for 4 and drove in the RockHounds’ only run in the loss.

Pitcher Zach Neal

25-year-old RHP Zach Neal made his second straight impressive start since being sent down the road from Sacramento, allowing just 1 run while striking out 8 over 7 innings on Tuesday. Neal left with the game tied, and RHP Michael Ynoa followed up by tossing a scoreless 8th, while RHP Austin House delivered a scoreless 9th to send the game into extra innings. House then surrendered three singles in the top of the 10th to bring in the winning run for San Jose. Stockton managed just 5 hits in the game. Third baseman Renato Nunez doubled for the team’s only extra-base hit, while first baseman Matt Olson drew a pair of walks for the Ports.

Starter Dylan Covey allowed 6 runs in just 4 innings of work to take his 3rd loss for the Snappers, while LHP Brent Powers and RHPs Tyler Hollstegge and Blake McMullen combined to surrender 10 runs in 5 innings of relief. Designated hitter Ryan Mathews singled, doubled and drove in a pair of runs, while outfielder Jaycob Brugman and shortstop Melvin Mercedes each singled and walked 3 times for the Snappers.
