PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE (TRIPLE-A)
Salt Lake Bees 1
Las Vegas Aviators 6
WP: Barnett 1-0 / 1.59
RHP Mason Barnett turned in a solid start and catcher Brian Serven continued his hit streak to help Las Vegas win its third straight over Salt Lake on Sunday. The 25-year-old Barnett allowed just 1 run, on a solo shot in the 1st inning, while notching 4 strikeouts through 5 2/3 frames to earn the victory for the Aviators. The Vegas bullpen held the Bees scoreless after that. RHP Yunior Tur tossed 1 1/3 scoreless innings, while RHPs Eduarniel Nunez and Joel Kuhnel each contributed a scoreless frame in relief. Meanwhile, catcher Brian Serven, who was signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, went 4 for 4 with a double, drove in a run and scored twice, and the 30-year-old backstop is now a perfect 7 for 7 to start the season. Left fielder Cade Marlowe singled, doubled, drove in a pair and swiped a pair of bases, while designated hitter Michael Stefanic singled twice, drew a walk and drove in a run, and third baseman Euribiel Angeles, who hit a grand slam in last night’s game, singled, walked, stole a base and scored a run for Las Vegas. The Aviators outscored the Bees 31-6 in the three-game series. The team has an off day on Monday, but LHP Gage Jump is set to make his Triple-A debut when he makes the start for Las Vegas on Tuesday.
