Las Vegas topped Tacoma in Game #2 of the best-of-three Pacific Coast League Championship Series to claim the PCL championship title on Wednesday. Third baseman Luke Mann and center fielder Ryan Lasko, both of whom joined the Aviators earlier this month, led the Las Vegas attack. Lasko tagged a two-run homer in the 2nd inning, while Mann slugged a three-run shot in the 6th. Left fielder Cooper Bowman singled twice and scored a run, while right fielder Junior Perez singled, drew a walk and drove in a run, and first baseman Bryan Lavastida doubled in a run for the Aviators. Veteran RHP Aaron Brooks made the start and allowed 3 runs, 2 earned, in just 2 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Tyler Baum threw 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to pick up the win. LHP David Leal pitched 3 perfect innings to keep Tacoma in check, and RHP Jake Walkinshaw tossed 2 scoreless frames to close out the victory for the Aviators. Las Vegas will now face either Jacksonville or Scranton/Wilkes-Barre in a single Triple-A Championship Game on Saturday.

Midland went down to defeat in the decisive game of the best-of-three Texas League Championship Series on Wednesday. Starter Braden Nett was charged with 5 runs through 3 1/3 innings of work to suffer the loss, while RHP Shohei Tomioka allowed 5 runs in just 2/3 of an inning of relief for the RockHounds. Second baseman Casey Yamauchi singled, doubled and drove in a run, while first baseman Tommy White collected a pair of singles, and right fielder Jared Dickey singled, drew a walk and scored the RockHounds’ sole run in the loss.
