Friday, September 12th: Leo De Vries Hits 2 HRs to Help Hounds Win while Junior Perez Leads Vegas to Victory

Top prospect Leo De Vries had a big night at the plate to help the RockHounds register the win over the Sod Poodles on Friday. The 18-year-old shortstop went 3 for 5 with a pair of home runs and a double while driving in 4 runs and scoring 3 times. De Vries has now gone 15 for 38 with 8 extra-base hits and 10 RBIs in 8 games for Midland in the month of September, and his .861 OPS is now tops among all Hounds hitters with at least 75 at-bats this season. Left fielder Clark Elliott also clubbed a pair of home runs while adding a single and driving in 2 runs in the game, while third baseman Joshua Kuroda-Grauer singled, doubled, homered and drove in 4 runs, and second baseman Sahid Valenzuela singled and slugged a two-run homer for the Hounds. Starter Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang allowed 3 runs through 4 2/3 frames, while RHP Stevie Emanuels tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief to record the win for the RockHounds.

Center fielder Junior Perez helped lead Las Vegas to victory over Reno on Friday. The 24-year-old Dominican outfielder singled, slugged a home run, stole a base, drew a walk, drove in 3 runs and scored 3 times. Designated hitter Nick Martini homered and doubled, while first baseman Luke Mann homered, drew a walk, drove in 3 runs and stole a base, and left fielder Cooper Bowman had 3 hits, stole a base and scored twice for the Aviators. RHP Kade Morris turned in a solid start, allowing 2 runs through 5 frames to earn the victory for Las Vegas.
