WP: Novotny 3-4 / 3.52

LHP Tucker Novotny turned in an outstanding start to lead Stockton to a shutout victory over Modesto on Sunday. Last year’s 18th-round draft pick for the A’s threw 6 shutout innings while allowing just 3 hits and 3 walks and notching 8 strikeouts on his way to picking up the win for the Ports. Novotny is now tied for the team lead with 81 strikeouts while averaging 11.9 K/9 for Stockton this season. LHP Brayan Restituyo tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, while LHP Riley Huge pitched a perfect frame in the 9th to complete the four-hit shutout. This year’s 2nd-round pick for the A’s, designated hitter Devin Taylor, tagged a two-run shot in the 4th, and he’s now 7 for 21 with 3 extra-base hits, 6 walks and 6 RBIs through his first 6 games with Stockton. Left fielder Bobby Blandford slugged a solo shot in the 2nd inning, while this year’s 4th-round pick, right fielder Gavin Turley, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair for the Ports.
