On a day when all the A’s affiliates went down to defeat, shortstop Shotaro Morii turned in the top performance of the day. The 18-year-old Japanese infielder went 4 for 5 with a pair of doubles, stole a base, drove in 2 runs and scored twice, and Morii is now boasting an on-base percentage of .425 in 31 games this season. Third baseman Jesus Superlano went 4 for 5 with a double, stole a base and drove in a run, while catcher Ramon Landaeta singled twice, doubled and drove in 3 runs, and first baseman German Ortiz singled, doubled and scored a run for the A’s. Starter Josnier Parra allowed 8 runs, 6 earned, in 2 1/3 innings of work to suffer the loss on Tuesday.
