Catcher Carlos Franco swung a big bat to help Stockton walk away with the win on Wednesday. With the bases loaded, two outs and the Ports down by three runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Franco stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam over the left field fence to give his team a lead it would never surrender. The 22-year-old Venezuelan backstop has now driven in 31 runs for Stockton, the third-most on the squad. Designated hitter Dylan Fien singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair, while first baseman C.J. Pittaro singled twice, walked and was hit by a pitch, and shortstop Ali Camarillo had a pair of hits, stole a base and scored a run for the Ports. Starter Nathan Dettmer allowed 3 runs through 5 frames to earn the win, while RHP Aidan Layton gave up 3 runs in 3 1/3 innings of relief, and LHP Riley Huge notched the final two outs in the 9th to secure his 2nd save for Stockton.
