Catcher Willie MacIver helped lead the Aviators to their fifth win in their last six games and run their league-best record to 13-6 on Friday. The 28-year-old backstop, who was signed as a minor league free agent in the offseason, tripled in a run in the 2nd inning and then came in to score the tying run for Las Vegas. He also singled, walked and scored another run in the game, and MacIver is now sporting an impressive slash line of .381/.458/.524 in 42 at-bats this season. Shortstop Darell Hernaiz doubled and singled in a run, while first baseman Nick Kurtz doubled and drew a bases-loaded walk to bring home a run, and right fielder Colby Thomas singled twice and drove in a run for Las Vegas. With LHP Jacob Lopez being recalled by the A’s, RHP Tanner Dodson made the spot start and allowed 3 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work. RHP Jake Walkinshaw replaced him on the mound and pitched 3 1/3 perfect innings, retiring all 10 batters he faced, to pick up the win, and RHP Grant Holman got the final three outs in the 9th to notch his league-leading 4th save for Las Vegas.

The RockHounds had their three-game winning streak snapped on Friday. RHP Chen Zhong-Ao Zhuang notched 8 strikeouts but allowed 5 runs through 5 frames to suffer the loss. Midland’s lineup managed just four hits in the game. Shortstop Euribiel Angeles, second baseman Colby Halter, left fielder Brayan Buelvas and designated hitter Junior Perez all singled in the loss.

The Lugnuts won their fifth straight on Friday. LHP Gage Jump turned in his best start of the young season, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits and 2 walks while striking out 6 in 5 1/3 frames to earn the win for Lansing. Third baseman Tommy White singled, doubled, drew a walk, drove in a run, scored 3 runs and stole a base, while designated hitter Jared Dickey singled twice, walked twice and drove in a run, and catcher Cole Conn doubled, drew a walk, drove in a run and stole a base for the Lugnuts.

The Ports’ young pitching staff turned in another strong performance to help Stockton secure its fourth straight victory over Visalia on Friday. 20-year-old Dominican RHP Jefferson Jean allowed 2 runs, his first of the season, and struck out 4 in 5 frames to earn his 2nd win, while 21-year-old Taiwanese RHP Tzu-Chen Sha struck out 5 through 3 scoreless innings to run his scoreless innings streak to 12 this season and secure the save for Stockton. Designated hitter Myles Naylor hit his 3rd home run in his last 4 games, while center fielder Pedro Pineda tripled, drew a walk and drove in a run, and left fielder Cameron Leary singled, walked, scored a run and notched his 9th stolen base of the season for Stockton.
