On a day when all the A’s affiliates went down to defeat, Las Vegas LHP Brady Basso turned in the day’s top performance. The 26-year-old lefty breezed through 6 innings, allowing just 1 run on 3 hits while walking 1 and striking out 3. Basso threw just 67 pitches, 44 for strikes, and he now holds a 3.54 ERA through 4 starts in the month of August. Recent free agent signee Austin Pruitt entered the game in the bottom of the 7th inning with Las Vegas leading 3-1 and gave up 5 runs while recording just two outs in the frame and ended up suffering the loss in his return to the Aviators. Meanwhile, rehabbing shortstop Jacob Wilson went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles and drove in a pair, and he’s now gone 6 for 15 in 5 rehab games with Las Vegas. Third baseman Armando Alvarez doubled, drew a pair of walks and drove in a run, and right fielder Logan Davidson singled twice for Las Vegas in the loss.
