This year’s top draft pick for the A’s, first baseman Nick Kurtz, turned in the day’s top performance in a losing cause for the Ports. The 21-year-old infielder homered, singled twice, drove in 3 runs and scored twice on Friday. This year’s fourth overall pick has gotten off to a hot start for Stockton, going 8 for 19 with 3 home runs in his first 5 games for the Ports. This year’s 3^rd-round pick, shortstop Joshua Kuroda-Grauer, singled twice and walked, while outfielder Rodney Green, this year’s 4^th-round pick, singled, drew a walk and drove in 2 runs, and right fielder Clark Elliott singled, doubled, walked twice and drove in a pair for the Ports. RHP Steven Echavarria turned in a solid start for Stockton, allowing just 1 hit while striking out 6 over 4 scoreless frames, but RHP Alejandro Manzano surrendered 7 runs in 2 2/3 innings of work, and LHP Brayan Restituyo allowed 2 runs, 1 earned, in 2 innings to suffer the loss for Stockton.
