On a day when all but one of the A’s minor league teams went down to defeat, RHP Gunnar Hoglund turned in the best performance of the day. The 24-year-old righty allowed just 2 hits while walking none and striking out 5 through 6 scoreless innings. He threw just 64 pitches, 43 for strikes. Hoglund has now allowed 4 runs, 10 hits and just 2 walks while notching 18 strikeouts in 20 innings of work during the month of July. On Thursday, he left with the game a scoreless tie, but RHP Colin Peluse gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief to suffer the loss. First baseman Brennan Milone and designated hitter Jeisson Rosario each singled for the RockHounds’ only two hits in the loss.
