The RockHounds hung on to record a one-run victory and registered their fifth straight win on Wednesday. First baseman Jonah Bride continued his hot hitting for the Hounds. The 25-year-old infielder singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in 3 runs, and he’s now 8 for 16 with 3 walks over his last 5 games. Bride’s .338 batting average and .608 slugging percentage are both team bests, and his 1.046 OPS is good for second-best in the league. Right fielder Tyler Ramirez doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored twice, while shortstop Logan Davidson tripled, walked twice and drove in a pair, and left fielder Devin Foyle hit a two-run homer for the Hounds. Starting pitcher Kyle Friedrichs was charged with 3 runs in 2 1/3 innings of work, while RHP Norge Ruiz returned from the injured list to make his first appearance of the season and picked up the win despite allowing 1 run in 1 2/3 innings of relief. Lansing scored just one run on four hits to suffer its fifth loss in its last seven games on Wednesday. Starter Seth Shuman was solid, allowing just 1 unearned run over 4 frames, but he still ended up taking the loss for the Lugnuts. Catcher Drew Millas singled and drew a pair of walks, while third baseman Cobie Vance singled and walked. Right fielder Lester Madden doubled for Lansing’s only extra-base hit in the loss, and center fielder Lazaro Armenteros went 0 for 3 but was hit by a pitch with the bases loaded in the 8th to bring home the Lugnuts’ lone run of the night.

The Ports prevailed in a one-run contest to post their third straight win on Wednesday. Designated hitter Tyler Soderstrom drew a walk and tagged a two-run homer in the 8th inning to bring his team within a run. And the 19-year-old leads the league with 14 extra-base hits, while his 31 hits tie him for the league lead. Soderstrom’s 16 RBIs are tops on the team, and his .893 OPS is the best among current Ports. Catcher Jose Rivas drew a walk and doubled in a pair of runs in the 8th to put the Ports over the top, while right fielder Junior Perez tripled, walked, stole a base and scored twice for Stockton. Starter Osvaldo Berrios gave up 3 runs over 5 2/3 frames, while RHP Daniel Martinez allowed 1 run in 3 1/3 innings of work to pick up the win for the Ports. Meanwhile, RHPs Clark Cota and Vince Coletti landed on the injured list, while RHPs Oscar Tovar and Trayson Kubo were added to the Stockton roster.
