Lansing’s lineup continued its recent resurgence to help the Lugnuts outlast the Loons and notch their fourth win in their last five games on Tuesday. And once again, shortstop Max Schuemann led the way. The 23-year-old infielder, who’s currently leading the Lugnuts with a 1.036 OPS, launched a three-run homer in the 4th inning to give Lansing the lead and later doubled in another run in the team’s five-run 8th. Right fielder Shane Selman tagged a two-run homer in the 8th and also walked and stole a base, while center fielder Michael Guldberg singled, doubled, drew a walk and drove in a pair, and left fielder Austin Beck doubled in the winning run in the bottom of the 8th for the Lugnuts. Starter Rafael Kelly allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 5 frames, while LHP Dalton Sawyer picked up the win despite giving up the tying run in the top of the 8th for Lansing.

Las Vegas was shut out for the second time in its last three games to drop its fourth straight to Salt Lake on Tuesday. Starting pitcher Grant Holmes allowed 3 runs, 2 runs, and walked 5 over 4 frames to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. Rehabbing LHP A.J. Puk was charged with 4 runs on 4 hits while striking out 4 in 1 1/3 innings of work. RHP Jesus Zambrano surrendered 5 runs in just 1 inning of relief in his first appearance since being promoted to Las Vegas. And infielder Nate Mondou took the mound in the 9th and notched his second scoreless inning of the season for the Aviators. Right fielder Greg Deichmann had a pair of hits, including a double, to raise his on-base percentage to .475, while left fielder Jacob Wilson doubled and drew a walk for Las Vegas in the loss.

The RockHounds suffered a 10-inning, 5-hit, shutout loss to the RoughRiders on Tuesday. Frisco only managed a pair of hits off Midland pitchers in the game. Starter Chase Cohen threw 3 2/3 scoreless innings and surrendered Frisco’s only two hits on the night, while tandem starter Jared Koenig tossed 4 1/3 hitless and scoreless frames to lower his ERA to 1.15. But with the game a scoreless tie in the top of the 10th, the RoughRiders used a sacrifice bunt and a sacrifice fly to bring the runner home from second and score the only run of the game. RHP Zach Jackson, who allowed the unearned run, suffered the hard-luck loss for the Hounds. Outfielders Jhonny Santos and Chase Calabuig both singled and walked in the loss.

Stockton came up a run short to suffer its third straight loss on Tuesday. Starter David Leal gave up 4 runs in 3 2/3 innings of work, while tandem starter Osvaldo Berrios allowed just 1 run and struck out 7 over 4 1/3 frames but ended up taking the loss on Tuesday. Right fielder Brayan Buelvas homered, singled and walked, while catcher Tyler Soderstrom drilled a pair of doubles to raise his league-leading total to 9 on the season.
