The RockHounds recorded their second straight one-run win over Springfield on Saturday and, once again, right fielder Greg Deichmann led the way. After hitting the game-winning home run on Friday, Deichmann drew a pair of walks and drilled a three-run homer in the 2nd inning to give the Hounds an early lead. Designated hitter Tyler Ramirez doubled, walked twice, was hit by a pitch and scored a run, while first baseman Dan Gamache singled, doubled and drove in the winning run in the top of the 8th for the RockHounds. RHP Mitchell Jordan made the start and allowed 3 runs over 4 frames in his Double-A debut, while LHP Tyler Alexander was solid in relief, throwing 3 scoreless innings to earn the win, and RHP Jesus Zambrano got the final three outs to secure his 7th save for Midland. In addition to Jordan, third baseman Jonah Bride was also promoted from the Ports to the Hounds, while infielder Mikey White and RHPs Grant Holmes and James Kaprielian were all reassigned from the RockHounds to Las Vegas on Saturday.

Las Vegas lost its third straight on Saturday to see its lead over El Paso in the Pacific Southern Division narrow to just one game with two left to play. RHP Grant Holmes made the start and was solid in his Triple-A debut, allowing just 1 run and striking out 5 over 4 2/3 frames, and he left with the game a 1-1 tie. But LHP Kyle Lobstein was charged with 1 unearned run in the top of the 6th to suffer the loss for Las Vegas. RHP Matt Harvey entered in the 7th inning and set down the side in order while notching a pair of strikeouts in his first relief appearance for the Aviators. Catcher Dustin Garneau drew a walk and drilled a game-tying home run in the 4th inning, while left fielder Mark Payton singled, doubled and drove in a run. Center fielder Dustin Fowler singled and walked twice, and second baseman Trace Loehr had a pair of hits, including a double, and scored a run in the loss. In other news, LHP Wei-Chung Wang was claimed off waivers by the Pirates and, in addition to Holmes, RHP James Kaprielian and infielder Mikey White were also reassigned from the RockHounds to Las Vegas on Saturday. Kaprielian is set to make his Triple-A debut when makes the start for the Aviators on Sunday.

Stockton matched its biggest offensive output of the month by putting 12 runs on the board to take its second straight from San Jose on Saturday. Third baseman Nico Giarratano singled, doubled twice, drove in a pair, stole a base and scored 3 times, while left fielder Lazaro Armenteros reached base 4 times, on a pair of singles and a pair of walks, while scoring 3 runs. First baseman Payton Squier had 3 hits, including a double, stole a base and scored 3 runs, and catcher Robert Mullen drew a walk and drilled a two-run homer for Stockton. This year’s 38th-round draft pick for the A’s, LHP David Leal, made the start and allowed 2 runs over 4 frames, while this year’s 34th-round draft pick, LHP Kumar Nambiar, picked up the win despite giving up 3 runs in 3 innings of relief in his California League debut. With Mitchell Jordan reassigned to the RockHounds, Leal and Nambiar were both promoted to the Ports from the Arizona League. And Stockton third baseman Jonah Bride was also reassigned to the RockHounds on Saturday.

The Snappers suffered their sixth loss in their last seven games on Saturday. RHP Angello Infante turned in a solid start, allowed 2 runs, just 1 earned, while striking out 7 over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up being saddled with the loss. Shortstop Max Schuemann drew a pair of walks and tallied his team-leading 25th stolen base for the Snappers.
