The Sounds exploded for 18 runs in the light air of Colorado Springs to extend their winning streak to ten games on Thursday. Left fielder BJ Boyd belted a grand slam in the 4th inning and also singled twice and drove in a total of 6 runs on the night. Second baseman Franklin Barreto homered, doubled and drove in 3, while catcher Beau Taylor drew a walk and drilled a three-run homer. Third baseman Sheldon Neuse singled twice, doubled twice, and drove in 3, and center fielder Dustin Fowler had 4 hits, including a double, drew a walk and drove in a run for Nashville. Starter Frankie Montas surrendered 8 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Carlos Ramirez tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief to record his 2nd win for the Sounds.

Right fielder J.P. Sportman helped the RockHounds win in extra innings on Thursday. With the game tied in the top of the 10th, Sportman doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3, and he collected a pair of doubles and 4 RBIs on the night. Designated hitter Skye Bolt slugged his 6th home run for Midland, while center fielder Luis Barrera singled, doubled and scored a run for the RockHounds. Starter Brian Howard surrendered 4 runs over 6 2/3 frames, while RHP Kyle Finnegan picked up the win despite allowing an unearned run in the bottom of the 10th for the RockHounds.

The Ports suffered a painful loss in extra innings on Thursday. Starter Matt Milburn was solid, allowing 2 runs over 7 1/3 innings of work, while LHP Pat Krall tossed 1 2/3 scoreless innings in relief. Second baseman Trace Loehr singled in the go-ahead run in the top of the 10th, and first baseman Viosergy Rosa then slugged a two-run homer to give Stockton a three-run lead. But RHP Angel Duno gave up 4 runs, 3 earned, in the bottom of the 10th to take the loss as the Ports went down to defeat on Thursday.

Vermont shut out Aberdeen on just six hits on Thursday. Right fielder Nick Osborne notched his 1st home run for the Lake Monsters, while catcher JJ Schwarz singled, doubled and scored a run. Starter Bryce Nightengale threw 2 2/3 shutout innings, while RHP Clark Cota tossed 2 scoreless frames to pick up the win. LHP Brandon Marsonek contributed 2 1/3 scoreless innings in relief, and RHP Slater Lee got the final six outs for Vermont to complete the shutout and secure his 5th save for the Lake Monsters.

Stockton shortstop Kevin Merrell had a big game in his second rehab appearance with the AZL A’s on Thursday. Merrell singled, tripled twice, stole a base, drove in a run and scored twice. First baseman Gio Dingcong had 3 hits and drove in a pair. Stockton RHP Jake Bray made the start and pitched 2 perfect innings in his first rehab appearance, while RHP Dallas Woolfolk picked up the win despite being charged with 2 unearned runs in 2 innings of relief, and RHP Daniel Martinez threw 3 scoreless frames to secure his 2nd save for the A’s.
