The Ports prevailed in a 10-inning slugfest on Thursday to sweep their three-games series with San Jose and notch their eighth victory in their last nine games. Catcher Collin Therox had a big day at the plate, collecting a pair of home runs for the Ports. Theroux put the Ports on the board when he homered to lead off the 3rd inning and then got the scoring started in Stockton’s three-run 9th when he led off the frame with his second solo shot of the game. Third baseman William Toffey had 3 hits, including a home run, and drove in 3 runs, while center fielder Skye Bolt singled, walked and drove in 2. Shortstop Kevin Merrell had 2 hits, including a double, walked and scored twice, and designated hitter Jonah Heim drew a walk and doubled in a pair for the Ports. Starter Matt Milburn was charged with 7 runs, 6 earned, over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Angel Duno struck out the side in the 9th to notch his 2nd win, and RHP Miguel Romero got the final three outs in the 10th to tally his team-leading 13th save for Stockton. In other news, Ports infielder Edwin Diaz was reassigned to the RockHounds on Thursday.

The Sounds fell for the fourth time in their last six games to see their record fall back to an even .500 on Thursday. Starter Ben Bracewell allowed 5 runs, 4 earned, over 6 frames to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. Catcher Beau Taylor had 2 hits, including a double, walked and drove in a run, while third baseman Sheldon Neuse doubled and drew a walk, and right fielder Ramon Laureano singled twice in the loss. Meanwhile, the A’s sent catcher Bruce Maxwell back to the Sounds on Thursday.

RHP Kyle Friedrichs turned in his second straight quality start for the RockHounds on Thursday, allowing 2 runs on just 3 hits to earn his 4th win for Midland. Catcher Sean Murphy and second baseman Eli White each had 3 hits, including a double, wth Murphy driving in 3 and White driving in a pair. Shortstop Richie Martin doubled, drew a pair of walks and scored twice, and right fielder Tyler Marincov hit his team-leading 11th home run for the Hounds. Meanwhile, Ports infielder Edwin Diaz was added to the RockHounds roster on Thursday.
