Stockton Ports 2
Inland Empire 66ers 3
LP: Sheehan 1-2 / 6.88
Prospect Of The Game:
Pitcher Parker Dunshee
(7 IP / 2 H / 2 ER / 1 BB / 11 K)
The Ports went down to defeat on Sunday to fall into a tie for first place in their division, but Stockton starter Parker Dunshee turned in one of his best outings this season and the most impressive performance of the day. Last year’s 7th-round draft pick for the A’s allowed 2 runs on just 2 hits while striking out 11 over 7 innings of work, and he’s now notched 52 strikeouts on the season, which ties him for second-most in the California League. Dunshee left after 7 innings with the game a 2-2 tie, but RHP Sam Sheehan surrendered the winning run with one out in the bottom of the 9th to suffer his 2nd loss for Stockton as Inland Empire won in a walk-off on Sunday. Second baseman Nate Mondou had 3 hits, including a double, and stole a base, while left fielder Dairon Blanco singled, doubled, drove in a run and tallied his team-leading 8th stolen base for Stockton in the loss.
