The Snappers snapped their three-game losing streak by sweeping a doubleheader from Burlington on Monday. Designated hitter Kyle Nowlin reached base 4 times, on a pair of singles, a double and a walk, while also driving in a run and scoring twice. Center fielder JaVon Shelby singled and homered, while second baseman Josh Vidales singled, walked twice and scored twice, and right fielder Luke Persico singled in 2 runs, including the winning run for the Snappers. Starter Zack Erwin gave up 2 runs over 4 1/3 frames, while RHP Joseph Camacho allowed 1 run 2 2/3 innings of relief to pick up the win. In other news, Erwin was named the Midwest League Pitcher of the Week on Monday after throwing 6 no-hit innings in Beloit’s no-hitter against Quad Cities on Wednesday.

The Sounds went down to defeat in 13 innings on Monday. With RHP Daniel Gossett‘s recent return to Oakland, RHP Josh Smith made the spot start and was outstanding for the Sounds, allowing just 3 hits and striking out 5 over 5 shutout innings, and he left the game with a 2-run lead. Right fielder Yairo Munoz collected 4 hits, including a triple, stole a base and drove in both of Nashville’s runs. RHP Chris Bassitt gave up 2 runs in 2 innings of relief to tie the game, and LHP Patrick Schuster surrendered the winning run in the top of the 13th to suffer his 2nd loss for the Sounds. Meanwhile, Nashville RHP Ben Bracewell was named the Pacific Coast League Pitcher of the Week after throwing 13 scoreless innings for the Sounds last week.

RHP Casey Meisner turned in a strong start for the RockHounds on Monday, allowing 2 runs over 6 innings of work, but he still ended up taking the loss as Midland suffered the sweep in its three-game series with Frisco. RHP Carlos Navas and LHP Brandon Mann each surrendered 1 run in relief for the RockHounds, while catcher Andy Paz singled and drove in the Hounds’ sole run in the loss.

In the first game of Monday’s doubleheader, starter Matt Milburn allowed 4 runs, 3 earned, over 5 2/3 frames, while LHP Ty Damron got the final out in the bottom of the 6th to pick up the win, and RHP Sam Sheehan notched the last three outs of the game to secure his 5th save for the Snappers. Shortstop Edwin Diaz belted his 10th home run for Beloit, while left fielder J.C. Rodriguez singled and drove in 3 runs, and center fielder Mike Martin had 2 hits and a walk, stole a base and scored twice for the Snappers.

Center fielder Logan Farrar had 3 hits, including a double, and drove in Vermont’s sole run in the loss.
