Stockton won with the help of four home runs on Friday, the biggest of which came off the bat of center fielder Skye Bolt. With the bases loaded, two outs and the Ports down by two runs in the bottom of the 3rd inning, Bolt stepped to the plate and slugged a grand slam to give Stockton a lead it would never surrender. Left fielder Tyler Ramirez, designated hitter Brett Siddall and catcher Argenis Raga each homered in the first two frames, but the Ports were still down by a pair of runs before Bolt’s big blast. Starter Kyle Friedrichs allowed 5 runs over 5 innings of work in his return to Stockton from Double-A Midland, but he still managed to pick up the win for the Ports. RHPs Joey Wagman and Armando Ruiz each tossed 2 scoreless innings in relief, with Ruiz securing his 1st save for Stockton. In other news, first baseman Chris Iriart was placed on the disabled list on Friday, while Stockton LHP Cody Stull was reassigned to the RockHounds. 23-year-old Cuban RHP Norge Ruiz was promoted from the AZL A’s to the Ports and is scheduled to make his first start for Stockton on Saturday, and A’s third baseman Matt Chapman is also set to join Stockton on Saturday on a rehab assignment.

The Sounds suffered their seventh loss in their last nine games on Friday. RHP Corey Walter had his roughest start of the year, surrendering 11 runs over just 2 2/3 innings to notch his 4th loss for Nashville. Right fielder Mark Canha singled, walked and slugged his 7th home run for the Sounds, while first baseman Matt McBride singled, doubled and walked, and designated hitter Beau Taylor walked and doubled in a run in the loss. Meanwhile, RHP Ben Bracewell returned to Nashville from the RockHounds and is set to make the start for the Sounds on Saturday.

The RockHounds went down to defeat for the seventh time in their last nine games on Friday. Starter Casey Meisner surrendered 4 runs over over 4 1/3 frames to suffer the loss in his Double-A debut. Catcher Sean Murphy collected 3 hits for the second straight night and also drove in a run, while right fielder J.P. Sportman tripled, doubled and scored a run, and center fielder B.J. Boyd and second baseman Max Schrock had a pair of hits apiece in the loss. In other news, RockHounds RHP Ben Bracewell was reassigned to the Sounds, while LHP Cody Stull returned to the RockHounds from the Ports on Friday, and RHP Dustin Hurlbutt is set to make his Double-A debut for Midland on Saturday.

Right fielder JaVon Shelby had 2 hits, including a double, and drove in a run, while center fielder Luis Barrera and designated hitter Miguel Mercedes both singled and doubled, and second baseman Trace Loehr singled and drove in a pair of runs for the Snappers in the loss.

This year’s 7th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Parker Dunshee, tossed 2 scoreless innings in his first start for the Lake Monsters on Friday. He was replaced by 22-year-old Venezuelan LHP Ivan Andueza, who threw 4 scoreless frames in relief to earn his 2nd victory for Vermont. Designated hitter Jordan Devencenzi walked and doubled in the Lake Monsters’ only run, while this year’s 10th-round pick, right fielder Jack Meggs, doubled, walked, stole a base and scored a run in the win.

This year’s 17th-round draft pick for the A’s, RHP Josh Falk, made the start and allowed 2 runs over 2 innings to suffer the loss, while 21-year-old Venezuelan LHP Jhenderson Hurtado gave up 3 runs, 2 earned, in 4 innings of work, and 24th-round RHP Slater Lee surrendered 3 runs, 2 earned, in 2 innings of relief for the A’s.
